Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay Brodie was born in Ogden Utah on September 15 1915. Reared in the Mormon Church's very first family, Fawn McKay was able to direct her innovative literary talents and remarkable abilities in research to create the brilliant psycho-historical biography of Joseph Smith, published in 1945. The book was titled The Only Man knows My History. The title derives from the funeral sermon given by Joseph Smith who was the founder of The Church of Latter-Day Saints. The preacher shocked the audience when he said telling his audience: "You don't even know my name. I haven't even met my heart." There is no one who knows my past. It's impossible for me to share it with you. The 29-year-old wrote Fawn in that moment of candor more than three writers have joined in the fight. A lot of them have denigrated him and some have glorified him. A handful have attempted at clinical diagnosis it is not that documents are lacking it is rather that they're in complete contradiction. It's difficult to organize these records and to distinguish first-hand stories from those of third-hand sources and fit Mormon as well as non Mormon stories into a coherent mosaic. This is both exciting and instructive. Fawn brodie was professionally committed to her work. Her writings and research helped bring her fame around the world: Thaddeus Stephens. Scourge Of The south (1959) The Devil Drives. The Story of Sir Richard Burton (1967) Thomas Jefferson. A Personal History (1974) and later posthumously Richard Nixon.
