Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the United States and is a Greek-American author, syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She was the founder of The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington has been an actor, journalist, philanthropist and author for more than 10 years. She is also the owner of The Huffington Post, an independent, liberal online newsmagazine. She emigrated from Greece to England aged 16 where she received an MA in Economics from Cambridge University in Economics. First foreign-born graduate to be elected president in the famous debate club The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take over the position. Her success as a conservative columnist was consolidated after she graduated. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online platform for voice that gave critical opinions on the political situation. Her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna's celebrity status was first noticed in 2003 when she was a candidate for an independent for the California recall election to succeed the then governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna was also the leader of an initiative in Detroit initiative to promote fuel-efficient cars. Forbes named her as 12th on its top 10 list of Most Influential Media Women. Guardian also included the Huffington Post on their list of the top 100 in 2010. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was made the president of this group. This included many AOL properties at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. Her life was shaped by the closeness she had to her mother, and the bond she shared with her father, despite her being very close to him. She showed leadership traits from the beginning. When she was 16 she relocated into the United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. As a student she was a member of the Cambridge Union's debate societies in the college and eventually was its first foreign and female president. In 1972, her master's in Economics was awarded. Following her graduation, she was employed as a columnist critic, and as a host on television. She was a guest on Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own books with his help.
