Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She has written fifteen books. She is also the co-founder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a writer and philanthropist as well as a television host and the owner of the independent free online news publication The Huffington Post. Born in Greece and relocated to England at age sixteen. At Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in economics. First foreign-born graduate to be elected president of the highly regarded debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the presidency. Following graduation, she left her mark as columnist in the conservative syndicated media and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later she created a voice-based website that offered critical observations about the current political climate. The celebrity she enjoyed helped her to convince several stars to voice their views on current events, political and culture. Arianna first gained notoriety during 2003 when she volunteered for California's recall election, in the place of Governor Davis. She was also involved in a Detroit-based project that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. In 2009, she was ranked by Forbes as The most influential female media personality, taking the 12th place on the list and in the same year Guardian listed her on the top 100 of media lists. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the president of their media company, which also included the other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Elli was the son of Konstantinos the management and journalism consultant. While she enjoyed a strong relationship with both of her parents and father, it was their relationship which shaped her. At a young age she demonstrated her leadership skills that she is still known for. When she was sixteen, she left the United States to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In her college years she joined Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman and the only foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with a degree in Economics. Her professional career as an anchor and reporter began after she graduated. Additionally, she starred alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
