Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is a Danish actor. He has played Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) as well as the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. In 2011, he took home the Reumert Prize of Honour At the age of 27 He was enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark where he graduated in 1995. He was also featured in The Killing's drama series. In the following years, he appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill, which were both internationally recognized Danish drama series. He played the role of President of Russia in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 in recognition of his role in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. The series was shown in the UK in the year 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm.
